Guide to your exam
Date: Monday October 24
Criterion B
This exam will test your ability to read and understand a piece of writing. It will include one reading extract and a number of comprehension questions. You will be asked to pick out obvious information, but also to work things out for yourself (like a detective!) so it's important you practice and are prepared.
Question types
One mark questions:
True/false
Multiple choice answers
Fill in the gap exercises
Two mark questions:
Explaining in your own words
Three mark questions:
Personal response (PEE)
Top tips
- Before you look at the questions, make sure you have read the extract carefully. Even if you don't understand every word, you should have a general understanding.
- Make sure you find and highlight the information in the text before answering a question.
- Answer all the questions. If you're not sure of an answer and you really can't work it out, make your best guess.
