Work for 7A

After our disappointing visit to the library this afternoon, I would like you to catch up on the reading you did not do in the library.

Please readthe first chapter OR 10 pages of the book you borrowed from the library today and write a 150 word summary of what happens in the chapter, including a secription of the main character.

Complete by Thursday's lesson.

South Africa research project


Find out as much information about SA as you can – make sure you understand it all completely (don´t just copy and paste!)

In your own words, record your findings in a Word or Power Point doc (you will not need to present)

Create a poster containing the key words or phrases from your research There will be a prize for the best posters in year 7. You may research together, but everyone will produce their own poster.

Exam Structure and revision tips

Hi team, 

This is the types of questions that will come up in your exam tomorrow: 

1)True/false
2)Table – match words from the text to their definition
3)Find a phrase in the text that means… “
4)What does the write mean by the phrase
Worth 2 marks
MUST use sysnonyms, NOT the words from the text 
5, 6, 7) PEE paragraphs

REVISON: You should be revising ALL of these types of questions. Look at the examples from the last paper, see where you were losing marks and focus on these areas. 
A good way to revise is to create your own examples of the questions and swap with a partner to answer them, like we have done in previous lessons.

Exam Revision


1)Work with the person you are sitting next to
2)Find an extract either from the book or an article online to base your reading exam on.
3)Look at the blank copy of your last reading exam and create questions about the extract you have chosen in the same style as the exam.
4)Create a mark scheme that includes all the possible answers for the exam.

Reading comprehension exam

Hello year 7,

Well done for all your hard work in the last week or so towards your speaking exam.

We have one more reading exam to complete this term and this will take place either on thursday or Friday of this week.

Next lesson you will get your last reading exam back to revise from.

In your revision you need to cover:

  • Quote finding 
  • Synonyms 
  • PEE paragraphs 
  • Finding information in a text 
This exam MAY or MAY NOT be on an extract from Kensuke´s Kingdom so be prepared for anything but use Kensuke´s Kingdom to revise.
